Hello. My name is Richard Haywood, Certified Gifted Social Studies teacher at McKinley High School. Last year, 2010-11, I taught 3 sections of World Geography GT and GS, as well as 3 sections of World History. I have been teaching at McKinley for the past 12 years. The adjacent photo is only an approximation of my appearance.
This site is intended to provide an open source of information on all aspects of our classes. Homework, long term assignments and projects, in-class activities, and links which are of use in this course will be provided.
Should you need to contact me, please use the Email address provided. I am looking forward to meeting both you and your child.
(You may go to the McKinley website for this and other teacher’s websites)
Greetings to both Parents and Students for the 2010-2011 school year.Welcome to World Geography.Geography is the study of the physical and cultural world. These two factors, physical and cultural, impact one another.I will guide the students in acquiring the discipline of Geography, so that they may view the world from the viewpoint of geographers.
Students are required to bring pencil, pen, and LOOSELEAF paper to class daily.I will provide a folder in which the students will keep their daily work and handouts.
All homework and special assignments will be posted on my website at the web address given above.
Class rules are quite simple.Students will show respect for others, especially Mr. Haywood. All school rules regarding behavior will be observed.Students are tardy when the tardy bell begins to ring, not while it is ringing.Students are to enter and depart by the front door only.Do not litter, leave materials such as returned tests and assignments, or any other objects in the classroom.
Parents and students wishing to communicate with me are encouraged to use the email account given above. This is much more effective than the phone.
My first duty is to teach the basic curriculum, then to expand and enrich the education experience based on the diverse needs and interests of the individual student.
Detach this slip, return it to class signed by parent or adult guardian for 10 Bonus Points
