McKinley Student Participates in Math Program
Oscillations of a Chain of Beads
Hira Khan has been studying the patterns vibrating particles can take by imagining them as beads attached by a string moving up and down. She presented her findings at the 2010 Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Francisco.
Her approach is very interesting because she takes a problem usually solved with calculus and uses ideas from geometry to solve it.
