The Siemens Foundation recognized McKinley High School senior Malavika Balachandran as the state female winner of the 2007-2008 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement (AP). The award is given each year to students with the most scores of 5 on eight AP math and science exams. Five is the highest score a student can earn on Advanced Placement exams. The AP exams provide students an early start on college-level work. Balachandran will receive a $2,000 scholarship from the Siemens Foundation for her accomplishment.
