McKinley Senior Beta Club had 33 members attend the Louisiana State Beta Convention on January 24 & 25, 2008. The Convention was held at the Baton Rouge RiverCenter with 4000 students and sponsors representing 200 schools from all over Louisiana present.
Our very Talented Art students who are Beta members did us proud with the following awards:
Libby Ingram first place in both Painting and Charcoal Drawing.
Laura Martinez first place in Mixed Media and third place in Colored Pencil Drawing.
Jackie Walker first place in Pastel Drawing.
Czarina Patolilic first place in Pencil Drawing.
Lydia Alexander second place in Colored Pencil Drawing.
At the ON-SITE Competitions McKinley Beta Members brought home the following awards:
Libby Ingram second place in painting.
Casey Tsai third place in colored pencil drqwing.
Czarina Patolilic sixth place in pencil drawing.
Ami Thai, Casey Tsai, and Czarina Patolilic placed 5th in the on-site Poster contest.
In the Academic Competitions McKinley Beta members placed in the top 10 in Math and English.
Even though they did not make the final round our Quiz Bowl team and Oratory participates represented our school very well.
